Piper Dellums is an inspiring speaker, activist and leader. Her participation in The MY HERO Project has given us new insight into the power of art and love to transform lives and build life long friendships. To hear Piper explain her father, Congressman Ron Dellums' 17 year long journey working to put an end to Apartheid in South Africa is one of the more powerful lessons I have ever heard. Piper witnessed first hand her father's tireless efforts to support Nelson Mandela and she does a beautiful job sharing the powerful lessons she has learned. Piper brings a sense of history with lessons of courage and faith that she weaves together to bring hope and inspiration to her audience. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to exaggerate how totally and beyond amazing Piper Dellums is!!! Not only as a speaker but especially as a beautiful person and genuinely good soul!! I serve as the Director of a residential “living/learning” community of 11 visiting post-docs and 350 undergraduate students from nearly 40 countries at one of the US’ elite universities. After hearing Ms. Dellums speak at an event of the United Nations Association, I asked her if she would be kind enough to speak at the university. Ms. Dellums’ ability to speak intimately to the hearts, minds and souls of each and every single individual in a crowded room, while addressing the entire audience, is a powerful and moving experience – for everyone who was fortunate enough to hear her speak.
